Pranic Healing-An interesting Read



Pranic Healing is based on the overall structure of the human body. Man`s whole physical body is actually composed of two parts: the visible physical body, and the invisible energy body called the bioplasmic body. The visible physical body is that part of the human body that we see, touch, and are most acquainted with. The bioplasmic body is that invisible luminous energy body which interpenetrates the visible physical body and extends beyond it by four or five inches. Traditionally, clairvoyants call this energy body the etheric body or etheric double.


What Is Pranic Healing?
Pranic healing is an ancient science and art of healing that utilizes prana or ki or life energy to heal the whole physical body. It also involves the manipulation of ki and bioplasmic matter of the patient`s body. It has also been called medical qigong (ki kung or ki healing), psychic healing, vitalic healing, therapeutic touch, laying of the hand, magnetic healing, faith healing, and charismatic healing.


Two Basic Laws of Pranic Healing
Pranic healing is based on two laws: The law of self-recovery and the law of prana or life energy. These laws are quite obvious but strangely they are usually the least noticed or least remembered by most people. It is through these basic laws that rapid or miraculous healing occurs.


1. Law of Self-Recovery:
In general, the body is capable of healing itself at a certain rate. If a person has a wound or burn, the body will heal itself and recover within a few days to a week. In other words, even if you do not apply antibiotic on the wound or burn, the body will repair or heal itself. At the present moment, there is no medicine available for the treatment of viral infection. But even if a person has cough or cold due to viral infection, the body will recover generally in one or two weeks without medication.


2. Law of Life Energy:
For life to exist, the body must have prana, chi or life energy. The healing process can be accelerated by increasing life energy on the affected part(s) and on the entire body.


In chemistry, electrical energy is sometimes used as a catalyst to increase the rate of chemical reaction. Light can affect chemical reaction. This is the basis for photography. In electrolysis, electricity is used to catalyze or produce chemical reaction. In pranic healing, prana or life energy serves as the catalyst to accelerate the rate of biochemical reactions involved in the natural healing process of the body. When pranic energy is applied to the affected part of the body, the rate of recovery or healing increases tremendously.


What we call miraculous healing is nothing more than increasing the rate of self-recovery of the body. There is nothing supernatural or paranormal about pranic healing. It is simply based on natural laws that most people are not aware of.


Although science is not able to detect and measure life energy or prana, it does not mean that prana does not exist or does not affect the health and well being of the body. In ancient times, people were not aware of the existence of electricity, its properties and practical uses. But this does not mean tliat electricity does not exist. One`s ignorance does not change reality; it simply alters the perception of reality, resulting in misperception and misconception of what is and what is not, what can be done and what cannot be done.


Children have more life energy than elderly people do. You notice that they move a lot from morning to night, hardly getting tired at all. When suffering from a fracture, who heals faster—the child or the elderly? The broken bone of a child heals very fast while that of an elderly heals very slowly; sometimes, it will not even heal at all.


Prana Or Ki
Prana or ki is that life energy which keeps the body alive and healthy. In Greek it is called `pneuma`, in Polynesian `mana`, and in Hebrew `ruah`, which means `breath of life`. The healer projects prana or life energy or `the breath of life` to the patient, thereby, healing the patient. It is through this process that this so-called `miraculous healing` is accomplished.


Basically, there are three major sources of prana: solar prana, air prana and ground prana. Solar prana is prana from sunlight. It invigorates the whole body and promotes good health. It can be obtained by sunbathing or exposure to sunlight for about five to ten minutes and by drinking water that has been exposed to sunlight. Prolonged exposure or too much solar prana would harm the whole physical body since it is quite potent.


Prana contained in the air is called air prana or air vitality globule. Air prana is absorbed by the lungs through breathing and is also absorbed directly by the energy centers of the bioplasmic body. These energy centers are called chakras. More air prana can be absorbed by deep slow rhythmic breathing than by short shallow breathing. It can also be absorbed through the pores of the skin by persons who have undergone certain training.


Prana contained in the ground is called ground prana or ground vitality globule. This is absorbed through the soles of the feet. This is done automatically and unconsciously. Walking barefoot increases the amount of ground prana absorbed by the body. One can learn to consciously draw in more ground prana to increase one`s vitality, capacity to do more work, and ability to think more clearly.


Water absorbs prana from sunlight, air, and ground that it comes in contact with. Plants and trees absorb prana from sunlight, air, water, and ground. Men and animals obtain prana from sunlight, air, ground, water, and food. Fresh food contains more prana than preserved food.


Prana can also be projected to another person for healing. Persons with a lot of excess prana tend to make other people around them feel better and livelier. However, those who are depleted tend to unconsciously absorb prana from other people. You may have encountered persons who tend to make you feel tired or drained for no apparent reason at all.


Certain trees, such alpine trees or old and gigantic healthy trees, exude a lot of excess prana. Tired or sick people benefit much by lying down or resting underneath these trees. Better results can be obtained by verbally requesting the being of the tree to help the sick person get well. Anyone can also learn to consciously absorb prana from these trees through the palms, such that the body would tingle and become numb because of the tremendous amount of prana absorbed. This skill can be acquired after only a few sessions of practice.


Certain areas or places tend to have more prana than others. Some of these highly energized areas tend to become healing centers.


During bad weather conditions, many people get sick not only because of the changes in temperature but also because of the decrease in solar and air prana (life energy). Thus, a lot of people feel mentally and physically sluggish or become susceptible to infectious diseases. This can be counteracted by consciously absorbing prana or ki from the air and the ground. It has been clairvoyantly observed that there is more prana during daytime than at night. Prana reaches a very low level at about three or four in the morning.


Aura
Clairvoyants, with the use of their psychic faculties, have observed that every person is surrounded and interpenetrated by a luminous energy body called the bioplasmic body or aura. Just like the visible physical body, it has a head, two eyes, two arms, etc. In other words, the bioplasmic body looks like the visible physical body. This is why clairvoyants call it the etheric double or etheric body.


The word `bioplasmic` comes from `bio`, which means life and plasma, which is the fourth state of matter, the first three being: solid, liquid, and gas. Plasma is ionized gas or gas with positive and negative charged particles. This is not the same as blood plasma. Bioplasmic body means a living energy body made up of invisible subtle matter or etheric matter. To simplify lhe terminology, the term `energy body` will be used to replace the word `bioplasmic body`. Science, with the use of Kirlian photography, has rediscovered the energy body. With the aid of Kirlian photography, scientists have been able to study, observe, and take pictures of small bioplasmic articles like bioplasmic fingers, leaves, etc. It is through the energy body that prana or life energy is absorbed and distributed throughout the whole physical body.


Benefits of Pranic Healing
1. It can help parents bring down the temperature of their children suffering from high fever in just a few hours and heal it in a day or two in most cases.
2. It can relieve headaches, gas pains, toothaches, and muscle pains almost immediately in most cases.
3. Cough and cold can usually be cured in a day or two. Loose bowel movement can be healed in a few hours in most cases.
4. Major illnesses such as eye, liver, kidney, and heart problems can be relieved in a few sessions and healed in a few months in many cases.
5. It increases the rate of healing by three times or more than the normal rate of healing. These are some of the few things that pranic healing can do. All of these assume that the healer has attained a certain degree of proficiency.


Pranic Healing Is Easy To Learn
Any healthy person with an average intelligence, an average ability to concentrate, an open but discriminating mind, and a certain degree of persistence can learn pranic healing in a relatively short period. Learning pranic healing is easier than learning to play the piano or painting. It is as easy as learning to drive. Its basic principles and techniques can be learned in a few sessions. Like driving, pranic healing requires much practice and time to achieve a certain degree of proficiency.

ANANDA YOGA: Ananda Yoga was developed by Swami Kriyananda who was a disciple of Paramhansa Yoga Yogananda author of the famous book Autobiography of Yogi. This yoga is very gentle, the emphasis is on breathing and deep relaxation. While in pose the use of affirmation and self suggestion is used to clear and energize the mind in preparation for meditation. The spirit is recognized and acknowledged while in the postures. There are many exercises involving tensing and relaxing the muscles. The physical routine of postures is not extremely demanding, though you benefit from an overall feeling of strength and vitality. The emphasis in Ananda Yoga is on prayer, deep breathing techniques, auto-suggestion, and deep relaxation. A Spirit/Body path.
ASTANGA YOGA: A system of hatha yoga which was developed by K.Pattabhi Jois. This is one of the most athletic and intense yoga styles. The classes usually start with 5 salutations to the sun, followed by a flow of postures known as The Primary Series after which the Second, then the Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth series is learned. Ujjayyi breathing is used as well as the Bhandas(refer to our breathing section).
BIKRAMS YOGA: Bikrams yoga was founded by Bikram Choudhury he trained under Bishni Ghosh the brother of Paramahansa Yogananda. Bikrams Yoga is taught generally in a room with a carpeted floor and many mirrors. The temperature of the room is (95 to 105 degrees.) The heat helps soften the muscles and ligaments. You will sweat profusely, which is the point of the heat. Perspiration is the great cleansing mechanism of the body. The posture flow consists of 26 postures preformed twice within a 90 to 100 min. This workout is quite intense and can leave you sore if your unprepared athletically. The emphasis is more on the physical performance of the postures rather than on meditation or deep relaxation.
INTEGRAL YOGA: Developed by Swami Satchidananda. Dr Dean Omish uses this method in his ground breaking work on reversing heart disease. Integral yoga combines all the paths of yoga Postures, breath control, selfless service, prayer, chanting, meditation and spiritual self understanding into one single approach. There is emphasis towards the spiritual and meditative paths. Their motto is ( easeful in body, peaceful in mind and useful in life.) Their classes are usually 75 min. long with 45 min. of a gentle postures sequences, which are followed by deep relaxation and a breathing sequence, ending with meditation. This is an all around approach to hatha yoga.
IYENGAR YOGA: Developed in India by B.K.S. Iyengar it is now considered to be the most popular style of yoga in the west. The instructors are some of the best trained having to complete a 2 to 5 year training course. They are knowledgeable about anatomy and physiology and precise body placement in each posture. This style is a moderate intensity practice with more standing poses than seated. There is less focus on pranayama or breathing techniques and meditation. The emphasis rather is on proper alignment of the spine, placement of the hips and feet. Fewer poses are practiced because the focus is on holding each pose for longer periods of time. Great attention is paid to each persons individual needs and physical limitations, so props are use to assist in the postures. Beginners use blocks, yoga ties, belts, pillows, balls, the wall, sandbags ect.
KRIPALU YOGA: Founded by Yogi Amrit Desai who was taught by Kripalvanandaji a Kundalini Yoga master from India. This is a gentle to moderate practice. There are three stages to Kripalu Yoga. Stage One focuses on learning the postures and observing the consequent mental and emotional reactions you may be having to to the postures. You are here developing an awareness of the mental emotional and physical connections in yourself. Stage Two involves holding the postures for longer periods of time, concentration and inner awareness are developed. Stage three is called (Meditation In Motion.)In this stage the movement from one pose to another is allowed to flow more spontaneously The poses becomes unconscious expression of feeling and emotion. Free flow of postures directed by your bodies natural intelligence and intuition is the goal of this final stage of Kripalu Yoga. At each stage different intensities of the poses are offered from gentle to moderate and vigorous. This is a Spirit/Body path.
KUNDALINI YOGA: Kundalini yoga is in the tradition of Yogi Bhajan who brought the style to the west in 1969. Kundalini Yoga is a highly spiritual approach to hatha yoga. It involves chanting, meditation, breathing techniques all used to raise the kundalini energy which is coiled at the base of the spine. Very spiritual.
POWER YOGA: Power yoga is much like Ashtonga Yoga in that it is equally vigorous and athletic. It combines the eight limbs of yoga wisdom working with the students mental attitude and perspective. They use Bandas and Moodas to try to build energy for the demanding poses. Many athletes prefer this workout for training.
SIVANANDA YOGA: Developed by Swami Vishnudevananda a disciple of Swami Sivananda. This is a moderate intensity workout with a forceful beginning. It begins with 12 complete Salutations to the Sun followed by 12 classic yoga postures. The postures are practiced with synchronized breathing. There is chanting mantras designed to work up through the chakras. The point of the practices is to eventually transcend into a realm of pure spirit. A Spirit/body approach.
SVAROOPA YOGA: Developed by Rama Berch. This style of Hatha Yoga uses the body as means toward spiritual development. Its posture technique to open up successive area of the spine in order to develop the transcendent inner experience called(svaroopa). Svaroopa Yoga place great emphasis on healing the body and the mind as a prelude to inner transformation.
VINIYOGA: Developed by Krishnamacharya and is carried on by his son T.K.V. Desikachar. Viniyoga is the middle path between the exactness and detail of Iyenga Yoga and the athletic and physically demanding Ashtonga Yoga. The style was derived from (Vinyasa Karma) which literally means an organized course of yoga. The postures are tailored and modified to the physical needs and limitations of the student. There is deep respect for the individual and his body. The emphasis in the postures is on the spine and on the breathing. It combines postures, breathing techniques, with meditation, text study, counseling, imagery, prayer, and chanting.

Causes Of Diseases

Causes Of Diseases

Different systems of medicine approach diseases in differing ways. Here we take an objective look at three common approaches.
(I) As Per Modern Medicine
When human activity constantly disturbs the equilibrium (Homeostasis) symbolized by the balancing functions of the Sympathetic and Parasympathetic Nervous Systems, the hypothalamus, the endocrine system, and if the body is unable to endure the disturbing pressures, diseases will appear on the body. The disturbances taking place in the body and the mind make the internal systems and organs vulnerable to diseases. Modern Medicine, does not root out the causes of diseases. It tries to control only the symptoms associated with the diseases. As long as the causes of diseases are active in the body, there can not be a cure for the diseases. Treatment becomes a routine affair, e.g., regular pills for blood pressure, diabetes, cardiac problems, gastric disorders, hyperacidity, sleeplessness, swellings in the lower part of the body, water retention etc.
(ii)As Per Yoga
The imbalances in the energy flow as reflected in the malfunctioning of the Ida and Pingala Nadis (Moon and Sun Nerve Currents – Please refer to Hatha Yoga) are the causes of diseases. When the Nadis (72,000 nerve channels or nerve currents) mal-function, its impact can be felt in the irregular shifting of the Sun and the Moon Nadis (one nostril open and the other partially closed). It occurs sometimes that the partially closed nostril will become fully closed and the breathing has to be carried out only through one nostril. In acute cases, both the nostrils will be closed and the breathing is carried out through the mouth. If such situations continue for long, the entire breathing process will become defective. The individual will not be able to inhale adequate amount of air or exhale the toxic air from the lungs completely. When body cannot get sufficient oxygen through respiration, the cellular functions will get disturbed at the micro level.. At the macro level, the organs will become inefficient to do their normal functions. The patient’s breathing pattern undergoes declining changes before or after the onset of diseases. For example, there are patients who (i) cannot inhale properly but can exhale (ii) cannot exhale properly but can inhale (iii) cannot inhale or exhale properly (iv) can use only the upper chest region for respiration (v) make relatively fast breathings with very negligible amount of air flow (vi) make throat breathings with mild sound instead of using the nasal tips or (vi) make the breathing through mouth due to acute nasal blocks. The breathing mechanism can determine the health of an individual. If this mechanism is working efficiently, the individual will enjoy physical and mental health. If the breathing is inefficient, the individual is likely to suffer from disturbances. Very poor breathings will make the body a breeding ground for diseases. There will be degeneration of the functional systems like the cellular, glandular, circulatory, digestive, neuro-muscular, excretory etc. and vital organs like brain, heart, lungs, liver, stomach, kidneys, intestines, pancreas, spleen etc. The diseases will start appearing on the body, one by one, connected with those functional systems or vital organs that are weak in the individual. Sage Vasishta says – “When the fixed mind is agitated, then this body also follows in its wake. And when the body is agitated, then there is no proper perception of things that are in one’s way, and Prana (vital energy) flies from its proper road (nerve channels) like an animal hit by, and reeling under the wound of, an arrow. Through such an agitation Prana (vital energy) instead of pervading the whole body steadily and equally, will vibrate everywhere at an unequal rate. Thereby the Nadis will not maintain a steady position but will quiver. The food which settles itself down in this body amidst such a commotion is transformed into incurable diseases. Thus through the primary cause (of the mind) is the disease of the body generated. If this primary cause be annihilated at its root, then all diseases will be destroyed.”
As Per Ayurveda (Indian System Of Medicine)
The body is made out of Pancha Bhutas (Five Elements) – Prithvi (Earth), Ap (water), Tejas (fire), Vayu (Air), Akasha (Ether). The humors or vitiating agents (Doshas) are three – Vata (wind), Pitta (bile) Kapha (Phlegm). The body functions properly so long as these Bhutas or Dhatus (Elements or Constituents) are in proper proportions. When the proportions are either increased or decreased beyond normal levels, then their equilibrium gets upset which gives rise to diseases. The Dhatus are formed from the ingested food. The food after digestion is converted into a pure portion which is fit to be built into the system. There is another portion which is the refuse after the pure portion is drawn off. The impure portion is not fit to be built into the system but to be excreted. From the refuse of food arise among other things VATA, PITHA and KAPHA (Wind, Bile and Phlegm). VATA, PITTA and KAPHA (Wind, Bile and Phlegm) are considered primarily responsible for all the diseases of the body. They are called Tridoshas (three vitiators). The attributes of Vata, Pitta and Kapha when they are in abnormal states: Vata (Wind) – falling out, displacement, extension or enlargement, bursting of limbs, cheerlessness, joy, thirst, remorse, pain in the whole body, twitching, piercing pains, inflammations, painful sensations as if caused by the limb being tightly bound with cords, and fractures; also roughness of the skin, hardness of the limbs, and absence of activity, perforations in the limbs, redness of complexion, astringement taste in the mouth, tastelessness in the mouth, severe pains of a local character, sweating, sleep, contractions and numbness or paralysis of limbs. Pitta (Bile) – burning, warmth, suppuration, sweat, impurities, gangrenous ulcerations, secretions and redness. Kapha (Phlegm) – whiteness of complexion, cold, itching, dullness, heaviness, oiliness, loss of sensation, tightness as if bound with cords, a sense of sweetness and procrastination in respect of work. The treatment in Ayurveda is aimed at stabilizing the proportions of Dhatus (elements) in the human body and creating a balance in the production of Vata, Pitta and Kapha (Wind, Bile and Phlegm).
Causes Of Diseases – A Sum Up
The imbalances in the production of Vata, Pitha and Kapha (Wind, Bile and Phlegm) can produce hundreds of symptoms in the body, both known and unknown to medical sciences. These symptoms appear in different combinations. It is humanly not possible to treat all of them individually. In fact, Modern Medicine attempts to single out these symptoms and proceed with the treatment. These medicines may further aggravate Vata, Pitha or Kapha, and produce serious reactions or side effects in the body. When the treatment does not produce any positive results, further tests, including the MRI Scanning, are carried out. The test results also may not be of much help in the process of treatment. Even surgeries are resorted to in many such cases without knowing the causes of such diseases. Majority of the patients afflicted with serious ailments are victims of improper administration of medicines.

Is Time Spent on Facebook a Help or a Hindrance to Your Personal Development?




I have recently discovered that I have a very strong disgust for facebook and regular facebook users. Feeling negative feelings towards anyone or anything is never a good thing to carry around in ones aura, so I thought about what good things facebook has to offer. I can acknowledge that facebook is not completely evil; it is a tool which when used at the right time for the right reasons, can be very beneficial to oneself and those who are connected to them via facebook.......but I still can't help getting a little annoyed at the whole facebook culture when I see so many people using this tool for unhealthy or mundane reasons.
I really love to see people make the most of their time and to use their energy for things which are beneficial to themselves and others. Much time is wasted on social networking platforms such as facebook, and I feel it is a tragedy. This is time that could have been spent contributing to much larger, more important issues in their lives, their community, and the world as a whole. Constant facebooking should be treated as an addiction like any other because it prevents people from living a deeper more meaningful life.
There are many reasons why one would use facebook. I categorized all the ones I could think of under two headings: “good reasons to use facebook” and “not so good reasons to use facebook” Under the “good reasons,” I listed the ways that facebook can help you develop in the areas of business marketing and social contacts, or as a way to share valuable inspiration. In the “not so good reasons” there are listed some rather unproductive reasons or superficial excuses that people may use when justifying their facebook usage.

Good Reasons to Use Facebook:

1. To Market Your Business or Services

Social networking is huge! Most businesses and entrepreneurs can't compete these days without using some form of social networking. FB is a quick way to get your skills and services know about. It makes it relatively easy for people to read about your business offerings and to pass the information on to others who may be interested. It can be less of a hassle than sending email attachments, and it may also reach a wider range of people. However, not everyone uses facebook as their primary method for receiving communications, so it not recommended to completely replace email newsletters with facebook notifications; use both, and you will reach a wider range of people.

2. To Share Valuable Websites, Pages, etc...

“Liking” or sharing something that you perceive as valuable and want to recommend to others is easy and non-invasive on facebook. Seeing that a trusted friend likes a web page or a video, may make you want to check it out, but it does not make you feel obligated to do so. Facebook gives people the freedom to ignore that kind of thing without feeling bad for deleting an email from someone trying to share pages, photos, or videos that they like. "Liking" or sharing something also helps the person who's thing you like; word of mouth, or let's say “word of click,” is one of the best ways to grow an online or offline business.

3. To Post Inspirational or Uplifting Content

Facebook offers a space for people to share inspiring or funny quotes, stories and videos with friends without being too spammy about it. Who doesn't need a little inspiration or humour in their day? These can also be easily ignored if you are not in the mood for fun or inspiration.

4. To Get in Touch With Long Lost Friends

Facebook makes it easier than ever to search for and get in touch with people you have been out of contact with. Sometimes you loose someones contact information or they change their email/phone number/address without notifying the world – but if they have facebook, you can find them!

Not So Good Reasons for Using Facebook:

1. To Constantly Update Your Status with Ordinary Things

Facebook gives you a free ticket to spill out your most mundane thoughts. But does anyone care? I hope not. Some of the things people post on their wall are not worth the effort it takes to type them. If you catch yourself writing things such as “I bought cool shoes today.” or “I am enjoying this new brand of peanut butter....mmm”. Or “I am tired and need to go to sleep.” maybe it is time to cut your status updating addiction. If you are tired and need sleep, then get off facebook and go to sleep – it's much more healthy for you and your facebook friends. I pray that people do not wait on facebook to get the next update on your sleep, shoes, or peanut butter. If so, then it's worse than I thought!

2. To Make Insignificant Comments

Comments are another place on facebook where people can share thoughts that don't really matter. Yes, some people can have some insights and beautiful things to share in a comment section, but if you find yourself adding “cool” or “great” or “lol”, it can make for unwanted clutter on your friend's newsfeed. Stopping insignificant comments is also a good test for ones humility. Can you enjoy something that another shared or said, without needing to be be acknowledged that you also thought it was “cool”.

3. To Post Photos Without Discernment

Facebook offers a platform for people to post hundreds, even thousands of photos of themselves. While some photos can be a good way to keep friends and family up to date on certain events in ones life, I still can't bring myself to put this under the “Good” reasons for using facebook. People often post without any discernment. Those pictures of you completely wasted on alcohol or drugs, or those sexy, almost porn-like photos might be good in your books, but if you have anyone on your friends list who you want to hold a higher opinion of you, then perhaps you should think twice before posting those photos. Also, keep in mind that potential employers may be able to access your account and and boarder crossing authorities can demand to see your facebook page when you try to enter certain countries. If you absolutely must post photos, keep them at a certain level of decency. You may also want to consider another photo sharing platform such as flickr or photobucket; these sites do a better job of displaying your photos, and are much more secure. Not to be forgotten is the seemingly outdated method of sending photos via email, which holds a more personal charm for those viewing the photos you choose to share.

4. To Boost Your Ego

Facebook is a great tool for ego gratification. It's a whole page all about your status, your interests, your photos, your likes, etc..... it's all about you! You can also present your life in anyway you choose, and make yourself look really interesting. The time and energy spent building and maintaining ones facebook personality can become consuming for a lot of people. One can run the risk of becoming self-absorbed (see #1 in this section). The ego also loves the confidence boost it receives when your friend count rises or you receive oodles of comments about how wonderful you look in a particular photo. Now, there is nothing wrong with a boost in confidence via facebook, but if you are using facebook as your main means of feeling good about yourself, you may want to dig a little deeper into your reasons for needing this recognition from others. Acknowledgement from other people may make you feel great in the short-term, but it is not a good way to achieve lasting, genuine happiness. You can't rely on anyone outside yourself to bring you happiness. True happiness does not come from ego gratification, but from going beyond personality and discovering your true nature, which is timeless and faceless.

5. To Live Vicariously Through Others

It is so easy for one to get lost in the world of facebook, only to find their way out hours later. There are better ways to spend your time; if you feel that there isn't a better way to spend your time that it is a sure sign that it is indeed time for you to seek out a more meaningful life for yourself. Maybe the life people display on facebook looks more interesting than your life, but it shouldn't be that way. Take more interest in your own life, create your own opportunities and you will be much happier. There is no no need to live vicariously through others, when you can create an awesome life for yourself.

6. To Stalk an Enemy, a Crush, or Someone You Don't Even Know

Facebook makes it to easy for one to find out an outrageous amount of details about another's life without them knowing that you know. It's a bit creepy. It makes no difference if they are on your friends list and they gave you access to their information or if it is someone with a public profile that you have actually never met. If you are routinely visiting someones profile and watching their life more closely your own you might want to figure out why and resolve the underlying issues of loneliness, jealousy, vengeance or whatever other emotion is causing you to facebook stalk someone.

7. To Feel a Sense of Connection With Others

Facebook allows us to keep up to date with more people's lives than was possible before. However, many fall into the trap of getting carried away in maintaining a connection over facebook, they forget how much more fulfilling in-person human connection can be. If you are looking at someones profile because you want to feel connected with them, then take steps to connect with them in real life. If seeing them in person is not possible, pick up the phone or set up a web cam and log into Skype. You'll get much more out of connecting with the real person, than you will by checking out their online personality.
Are you away travelling, working, or studying and you cannot meet with your friends in person? It's still not a good a reason to spend hours “connecting” to others on facebook. You may have a few close people you want to update every now and then, but If you are living on facebook in order to connect with people far far away, you are missing out on opportunities for connecting with real people in your current location.

8. To Stay in Touch With Every Person You Ever Met

Do you really care about all 1,400 people on your friends list? Would you have a coffee with them if they were in your city? If not, then you do not need them on your facebook. Although it can be nice to occasionally reconnect with someone from your past, set some limits to your friend finding. If you did not try stay in touch in the first place, were they really that important to you? It's true that we sometimes let people who are dear to us slip away, and if you really feel inclined to reconnect, then do so, but choose your re-connections with discernment. Most of the time, if someone is no longer in our life, there is no reason for them to be in our life. People come into and out of our lives for various reasons, and if you are really meant to reconnect with someone, fate will find a way. Trust the working of the universe and don't feel like you have to keep 1,400 contacts just in case you may want to talk to one of them one day. By clinging on to people from our past, we don't leave space for the new to come in. Stay open and let the mystery of life unfold. The right people come in and out of your life at the right time, don't force facebook friendships.

If you are using facebook for unhealthy or mundane reasons, then for your own benefit, and the benefit of everyone else on this planet.....please consider resolving the underlying issues. Recognize facebook as a tool which has certain capabilities, but not as something that becomes your lifeline. There is a higher purpose to you life, and it does not involve telling the world that you liked last nights episode of your favourite TV series.

Hatha Yoga Its Meaning And Relevance

Hatha is considered to be a compound word formed of two syllables “Ha” and “Tha”. (Ha means Sun denoting Pingala Nadi or Surya Nadi that passes through the right side of the spine; and Tha means Moon denoting Ida Nadi or Chandra Nadi that passes through the left side of the spine; Nadi = Nerve Current or Energy Channel). The term Hatha signifies the harmonized functioning of the nerve currents the Moon and the Sun in the human body.

As per Hathayoga Pradipika, there are 72,000 Nadis (energy channels) in the human body through which flows the vital energy called Prana. Of this, there are 3 important Nadis – 2 Nadis are located on either side of the spinal column both originate at the base of the tail bone and flow upward into the brain with their nerve endings located at the nostrils. The 3rd Nadi, Sushumna, located inside the hollow canal of the spinal cord, originates at the base of the tail bone and flows upward into the brain. The Ida and the Pingala Nadis cross the central column from one side to the other and make the knot with the Sushumna Nadi (Central Nerve Current) at certain important points. These meeting points are called Energy Centres or Chakras.



Nadi Shifting a vital function of the body
The Ida Nadi and Pingala Nadi correspond to the breaths that flow in the left and right nostrils. By nature, the impact of the energy that flows in the left Nadi (Moon) is cooling to the body, and the energy that flows in the right Nadi (Sun) is warming to the body.
During respiration, one can feel that one nostril is always open and the other nostril is partially blocked. The open nostril signifies the functioning of the corresponding Nadi or Nerve Current. For example, if right nostril is fully open, the Sun or Pingala Nadi is functioning; if left nostril is fully open, the Moon or Ida Nadi is functioning. If the Sun and the Moon Nadis do not function alternatively at regular intervals, it may cause extreme cooling or heating up of the body resulting in health disorders. In a healthy person, the Nadis will shift at an interval of 110 minutes, thus balancing the heat and cold of the body. Sun signifies heat, and Moon signifies cold. If this occurs regularly, the individual will enjoy happiness and good health. If not, it is likely to produce serious physical and psychological problems.
When the vital energy flows through the Sushumna Nadi, located in the hollow canal of the spinal cord, the consciousness of the practitioner expands to experience greater bliss. The aim of Hatha Yoga is to help its aspirants gain this greater bliss and also to step into Raja Yoga to enjoy the multi-dimensional bliss.
