Super Brain Yoga - India Rediscovered

Super brain Yoga - For intelligence

A simple devotional action performed by hindus in front of Lord Ganesh from time immemorial is now being researched and enthusiastically promoted in the west as Super Brain Yoga

Now we know why Lord Ganesha is attributed to Knowledge and intelligence.

Watch the below video...........

Procedure

Super Brain Yoga

This is a very interesting technique to refresh yourself in an instant.
Super Brain Yoga
Super Brain Yoga
Sit still and close your eyes. Cross your hands and bring them up to your ears – left hand to the right ear, right hand to the left.
Super Brain Yoga
Super Brain Yoga
Rub and massage your earlobes, holding them between the thumb and forefinger.
Now, holding the earlobe between your first and second finger, pull it firmly down and release it. Do this a few times.
If you can, squat and stand up a few times while you do this, creating a gentle pumping action in the body.
In just a couple of minutes, you will start feeling a difference in your state of mind! You will straightaway feel energized and fresh.
There is a reason for this. The ears are powerful acupuncture points with a direct connection to the brain. When the ears are stimulated, the energy flow to the brain is smoother.
Since the left brain is connected to the right side of the body and vice-versa, we cross our hands when massaging the ears.
Simultaneously, squatting and standing increases the circulation throughout the body.
When practiced regularly, this small exercise can work wonders for your memory and awareness.

What Is a Mantra and How Does It Work

A saying from the Vedas claims that "Speech is the essence of humanity." All of what humanity thinks and ultimately becomes is determined by the expression of ideas and actions through speech and its derivative, writing. Everything, the Vedas maintain, comes into being through speech. Ideas remain unactualized until they are created through the power of speech. Similarly, The New Testament, Gospel of John, starts "In the beginning was The Word. And the Word was with God and the Word was God..."
In mainstream Vedic practices, most Buddhist techniques and classical Hinduism, mantra is viewed as a necessity for spiritual advancement and high attainment. In The Kalachakra Tantra, by the Dalai Lama and Jeffrey Hopkins, the Dalai Lama states, "Therefore, without depending upon mantra...Buddhahood cannot be attained."
Clearly, there is a reason why such widely divergent sources of religious wisdom as the Vedas, the New Testament and the Dalai Lama speak in common ideas. Here are some important ideas about mantra which will enable you to begin a practical understanding of what mantra is and what it can do.

Definition # 1: Mantras are energy-based sounds.

Saying any word produces an actual physical vibration. Over time, if we know what the effect of that vibration is, then the word may come to have meaning associated with the effect of saying that vibration or word. This is one level of energy basis for words.
Another level is intent. If the actual physical vibration is coupled with a mental intention, the vibration then contains an additional mental component which influences the result of saying it. The sound is the carrier wave and the intent is overlaid upon the wave form, just as a colored gel influences the appearance and effect of a white light.
In either instance, the word is based upon energy. Nowhere is this idea more true than for Sanskrit mantra. For although there is a general meaning which comes to be associated with mantras, the only lasting definition is the result or effect of saying the mantra.

Definition #2: Mantras create thought-energy waves.

The human consciousness is really a collection of states of consciousness which distributively exist throughout the physical and subtle bodies. Each organ has a primitive consciousness of its own. That primitive consciousness allows it to perform functions specific to it. Then come the various systems. The cardio-vascular system, the reproductive system and other systems have various organs or body parts working at slightly different stages of a single process. Like the organs, there is a primitive consciousness also associated with each system. And these are just within the physical body. Similar functions and states of consciousness exist within the subtle body as well. So individual organ consciousness is overlaid by system consciousness, overlaid again by subtle body counterparts and consciousness, and so ad infinitum.
The ego with its self-defined "I" ness assumes a pre-eminent state among the subtle din of random, semi-conscious thoughts which pulse through our organism. And of course, our organism can "pick up" the vibration of other organisms nearby. The result is that there are myriad vibrations riding in and through the subconscious mind at any given time.
Mantras start a powerful vibration which corresponds to both a specific spiritual energy frequency and a state of consciousness in seed form. Over time, the mantra process begins to override all of the other smaller vibrations, which eventually become absorbed by the mantra. After a length of time which varies from individual to individual, the great wave of the mantra stills all other vibrations. Ultimately, the mantra produces a state where the organism vibrates at the rate completely in tune with the energy and spiritual state represented by and contained within the mantra.
At this point, a change of state occurs in the organism. The organism becomes subtly different. Just as a laser is light which is coherent in a new way, the person who becomes one with the state produced by the mantra is also coherent in a way which did not exist prior to the conscious undertaking of repetition of the mantra.

Definition #3: Mantras are tools of power and tools for power.

They are formidable. They are ancient. They work. The word "mantra" is derived from two Sanskrit words. The first is "manas" or "mind," which provides the "man" syllable. The second syllable is drawn from the Sanskrit word "trai" meaning to "protect" or to "free from." Therefore, the word mantra in its most literal sense means "to free from the mind." Mantra is, at its core, a tool used by the mind which eventually frees one from the vagaries of the mind.
But the journey from mantra to freedom is a wondrous one. The mind expands, deepens and widens and eventually dips into the essence of cosmic existence. On its journey, the mind comes to understand much about the essence of the vibration of things. And knowledge, as we all know, is power. In the case of mantra, this power is tangible and wieldable.

Statements About Mantra

  1. Mantras have close, approximate one-to-one direct language-based translation. If we warn a young child that it should not touch a hot stove, we try to explain that it will burn the child. However, language is insufficient to convey the experience. Only the act of touching the stove and being burned will adequately define the words "hot" and "burn" in the context of "stove." Essentially, there is no real direct translation of the experience of being burned.
Similarly, there is no word which is the exact equivalent of the experience of sticking one's finger into an electrical socket. When we stick our hand into the socket, only then do we have a context for the word "shock." But shock is really a definition of the result of the action of sticking our hand into the socket.
It is the same with mantras. The only true definition is the experience which it ultimately creates in the sayer. Over thousands of years, many sayers have had common experiences and passed them on to the next generation. Through this tradition, a context of experiential definition has been created.
  2. Definitions of mantras are oriented toward either the results of repeating the mantra or of the intentions of the original framers and testers of the mantra. In Sanskrit, sounds which have no direct translation but which contain great power which can be "grown" from it are called "seed mantras." Seed in Sanskrit is called "Bijam" in the singular and "Bija" in the plural form. Please refer to the pronunciation guide on page 126 for more information on pronunciation of mantras.
Let's take an example. The mantra "Shrim" or Shreem is the seed sound for the principle of abundance (Lakshmi, in the Hindu Pantheon.) If one says "shrim" a hundred times, a certain increase in the potentiality of the sayer to accumulate abundance is achieved. If one says "shrim" a thousand times or a million, the result is correspondingly greater.
But abundance can take many forms. There is prosperity, to be sure, but there is also peace as abundance, health as wealth, friends as wealth, enough food to eat as wealth, and a host of other kinds and types of abundance which may vary from individual to individual and culture to culture. It is at this point that the intention of the sayer begins to influence the degree of the kind of capacity for accumulating wealth which may accrue.
  3. Mantras have been tested and/or verified by their original framers or users. Each mantra is associated with an actual sage or historical person who once lived. Although the oral tradition predates written speech by centuries, those earliest oral records annotated on palm leaves discussed earlier clearly designate a specific sage as the "seer" of the mantra. This means that the mantra was probably arrived at through some form of meditation or intuition and subsequently tested by the person who first encountered it.
  4. Sanskrit mantras are composed of letters which correspond to certain petals or spokes of chakras in the subtle body.As discussed in Chapter 2, there is a direct relationship between the mantra sound, either vocalized or subvocalized, and the chakras located throughout the body.
  5. Mantras are energy which can be likened to fire. You can use fire either to cook your lunch or to burn down the forest. It is the same fire. Similarly, mantra can bring a positive and beneficial result, or it can produce an energy meltdown when misused or practiced without some guidance. There are certain mantra formulas which are so exact, so specific and so powerful that they must be learned and practiced under careful supervision by a qualified teacher.
Fortunately, most of the mantras widely used in the West and certainly those contained in this volume are perfectly safe to use on a daily basis, even with some intensity.
  6. Mantra energizes prana."Prana" is a Sanskrit term for a form of life energy which can be transferred from individual to individual. Prana may or may not produce an instant dramatic effect upon transfer. There can be heat or coolness as a result of the transfer.
Some healers operate through transfer of prana. A massage therapist can transfer prana with beneficial effect. Even self-healing can be accomplished by concentrating prana in certain organs, the result of which can be a clearing of the difficulty or condition. For instance, by saying a certain mantra while visualizing an internal organ bathed in light, the specific power of the mantra can become concentrated there with great beneficial effect.
  7. Mantras eventually quiet the mind.At a deep level, subconscious mind is a collective consciousness of all the forms of primitive consciousnesses which exist throughout the physical and subtle bodies. The dedicated use of mantra can dig into subconscious crystallized thoughts stored in the organs and glands and transform these bodily parts into repositories of peace.

Vibrations and Mantras

In this article we are going to explain the importance of vibrations, including how they work and affect us.
Brain activity is measured by the electric impulses that it creates. These electric impulses can be measured with an encephalogram (EEG) and are calculated in hertzes (Hz).
We often experience different frequencies which are dependent upon the state of mind that we are in. If we are tired, afraid, or relaxed, the frequency changes. These frequency waves  range from very active states to states of deep relaxation.
These electric waves are categorized according to their speed. The four principal categories are:
  • BETA WAVES - 14 Hz to 20 Hz. Beta waves are found in normal states of consciousness. They are present when a person is engaged in regular activities.
  • ALPHA WAVES - 8 to 13 Hz. Alpha waves are found in states of light meditation and day dreaming. They become stronger when the eyes are closed. When a person passes from Beta waves to Alpha waves, the parasympathetic part of the brain takes charge of the nervous system and more nervous signals are sent to the organs and glands. This creates ideal conditions for healing. Some mystics refer to this state as the "sacred space”.
The predomination of these waves is associated with increased learning, creativity, and concentration. When we focus on something, the Alpha waves are dominant. Regardless of the activity a person is engaged in, studies show a rise in productivity and a deep experience.
  • TETA WAVES - 4Hz to 7 Hz. These waves are found in high states of creativity and in deep states of meditation. This state is ideal for meditation. There is a disconnection between the body and the mind when this happens which allows for a better concentration into higher states of the self. In this state, there is a deep physical relaxation felt.
  • DELTA WAVES - 5 Hz to 3 Hz. These waves are found in states of deep sleep and unconsciousness. New studies have shown that these waves appear in deep meditative states as well. There are CDs with Delta waves music which can be a tremendous help for people suffering from insomnia.
One of the characteristics of the different sounds, mantra,s and songs that are used to reach meditative states is that they all have the same frequency as the Teta Waves, 4 to 7 Hz, or 3.5 beats per minute.
Studies conducted on Shamanic chants, Indian Ragas, and some mantras and Tibetan chants show that they generally have 3.5 beats per minute as well.
Our brain captures and copies the frequencies that it is exposed to. Studies conducted on this subject have discovered that people who expose themselves to this frequency for 15 to 30 minutes a day do not have stress.
The vibration that affects us the most is our own. Why?
Chakras are described as spirals, or a vortex of energy located in specific areas of the body. While we have many Chakras throughout body, there are eight which are considered to be the most important.
Each Chakra has one spiral of energy- except for the throat Chakra which has two. This is represented by two infinity symbols (the number eight on its side) which cross each other. This explains why we feel so good when we express ourselves through singing, chanting mantras and so on.
The sound, made of vibration, is the universal language. It is not necessary to know the language in order to understand the message and the history, or to experience emotions such as laughing, crying, and love.
People with big projection use the throat Chakra and the Navel Chakra at the same time. Next time you have the opportunity do the test, observe how they move the abdomen when they speak. Try it and you will notice that the vibration of the sound changes.
The feelings and emotions associated with the Throat Chakra (the fifth Chakra) balance are as follows:
  • Communicating without fear
  • Trust
  • Clarity and Honesty
  • Speaking the truth
  • Inspiring others through words
  • Earning respect
  • Being alert to the vibrations of the world
  • Teaching others through example
  • Being detached and attached at the same time while operating from a more elevated place
The feelings and emotions associated with an imbalance of this Chakra are as follows:
Inability to speak the truth
  • Fear of communication
  • Prideful and hedonistic behavior
  • Physical hyperactivity and inability to relax
  • Other people do not want to listen to what you say
  • Fear of rejection or embarrassment
  • Does not connect with or without the truth
  • Avoiding interaction due to fears of vulnerability or involvement.
You can find Yoga sets and meditations to strengthen this Chakra inside these sections.
Mantras and the Science of Naad
The science of Naad is the science of sound- and it is thousands of years old. Naad is the basic sound of all languages throughout time. This science explains the scientific part of the connections between the movement of the tongue in the mouth through language, chemicals, or fluids of neurotransmission of the brain.
Man=Mind                 e=now             Ta= energy force                    Ra=sun
The mantra is composed of current sounds, usually in Sanskrit or in other languages of India. Sometimes we don’t understand the meaning because it is not the language we speak. However, it is not necessary to know the meaning for the mantra to do what it needs to do. It’s like walking in the rain; there’s no need for you to understand why you’re going to get wet.
Why do we use current sounds?
Other words can be used, but to obtain optimum results the use of current sounds are the most recommended.
The current sounds are infinite. In their form they capture the seed of the word; they are unlimited. In the beginning when the mantra is chanted, it is done in a conscious way. Eventually, however, it occurs unconsciously. If the rhythm and the concentration are good and you let it go, the central nervous system begins to vibrate and you listen.
The state in which the mantra is recited in an unconscious way that is in tune with the infinite is called Ana hat. In this moment, you are linked to the infinite part of the universe and to the grandiosity of the superior being.
Anahat helps to develop intuition and interior strength. It gives you the capacity to do whatever you want and the ability to be completely open with the totality of your being. It is a state of joy, truth, compassion, and relaxation.
The interior silence is the silence of the ego. The mind vibrates in silence at the union of your unlimited self.
Every time that we perfect a mantra, we become the master musician perfecting his instrument. This instrument can take you to healing, joy, and other states.
Yogi Bhajan described the mantras as codes. He said “mantras are telephone numbers, it’s better to call in the morning, before the sunrise, they always answer the phone.”
How it works
When you recite a mantra, you touch the palate with your tongue. In the palate, there are 84 meridian points, 64 in the hard palate and 20 in the soft palate. This vibration goes from the hypothalamus, the one that directs the actions of the pituitary gland, and governs the endocrine systems, or, the one in charge of releasing chemicals and hormones throughout the body, to the brain. This vibration (frequency) releases chemical hormones that balance the body, and have healing effects, emotional effects, and effects on one’s well being.

There are some PET scan photos where you can see the change in the gray matter from one hemisphere to the other in just a few minutes of mediation.
Here[s how it goes:
                                                PALATE

HARD PALATE                                                        SOFT PALATE
64 MERIDIANS                                                     20 MERIDIANS

                                                HYPOTHALAMUS

                                                PITUITARY GLAND

RELEAsE CHEMICALS AND HORMONES THROUGHOUT THE BODY
Each sound has a different vibration and, as a result, each mantra has a different effect. See the mantra’s section.
In studies performed at The University of Arizona, a PET scan showed how change occurs in the activity of the brain from the frontal part to the parietal part during the chanting of the mantra Sa Ta Na Ma. This change indicated an improvement in mood and alertness. They also found that when chanting this mantra, the Vagus nerve was stimulated. This is the most important nerve in the body, which goes from the back of the neck through the mandible and assists the function of the heart, lungs, intestines, and muscles in the back.
Other studies conducted by Robert Gass show how plants exposed to music began to absorb nutrients faster than those not exposed to music. As a result, they started to grow faster, up to 1,300 feet. While plants don’t have ears, this study shows that plants respond to vibration, as described in the bookThe Secret Lives of Plants by Christopher Bird and Meter Tompkins.
A recent best-selling book, The Hidden Message in Water by Maseru Emoto, showed photographs of water at a microscopic level. The water was photographed after being exposed to different sounds: classical music, heavy metal music and so on, as well as words like “love”, “hate”, “thanks”, and “I hate you” in many different languages. They also showed photographs of the water in different places such as Lotus, Fontana di Trevi, Washington, Rome, Venice etc. As well as water photographed before and after an earthquake. There were also examples of distilled water after being treated with the vibration of different words and then exposed next to televisions, cell phones, and computers.
The water photographs are beautiful and look like snowflakes. The power nature has  is simply extraordinary. Also, the way in which the water transforms next to words like “hate” is astounding.
The human body is composed of 70% water. This explains why the vibrations affect us, not only the mantras but also the words we use in our daily lives.
The following are some of the many benefits that we experience when we chant mantras:
  • Improved concentration - Keeps us focused and busy with the tasks of chanting over and over again. In other words, it finished or ends with “the constant mental movie” as some of my students call it.
  • Breath control – It’s like singing a song. At the end, you end up breathing at the same time as the singer. The breath is one of the most used tools in the practice of Yoga and meditation. The mind gets distracted with things that have happened in the past, future, and everything else. The breath is something that happens in the present, every second, and focusing on it will help us to find the concentration.
  • Decreased heart rate
  • Decreased arterial pressure
  • Reduction of stress hormones
  • Improved lymphatic circulation
  • Release of endorphins, the ones that make us feel good
  • Increased immune system function
  • Increased interleukin-1 production
In a society where we are overwhelmed by exterior stimulus and information, and with more than a thousand thoughts per blink of the eye, the power to have these tools to quiet the mind and connect ourselves with our unlimited self, where the infinite wisdom lives, is a gift. Use it!

Colour Healing

The colours around us can affect us in many ways, even if we're not aware of it. Colour is a form of magnetic energy that surrounds us, through the clothes we wear, the food we eat and the colours in our home. Colours have healing powers that can help treat and prevent diseases, or correct any imbalances within your body.
There are different colour healing techniques used to benefit you physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. These include: diet, crystals, clothing, colour visualizations, colored silks, colour meditations, healing gardens, and the colours in your home.

How Colour Affects us
We are all naturally drawn to certain colours, as each colour makes us feel a certain way. Wether we realize it or not we are affected, and it's a natural instinct to choose specific colours for our clothes, our home and surroundings that we favour. The energy of each colour is absorbed through our skin, affecting our cells. Blind people are also affected by colour, as their bodies can still register the impact of its energy at a cellular level.

Red
Red is a vibrant, energizing colour that has the healing power to speed up blood circulation, alleviate depression and speed up the healing of infections and wounds. Red is the hottest colour, so it can help warm you up when you're cold.
Our eyes tend to be drawn to the colour red, that's why it's associated with danger, and used for traffic signs and signals. It's a wonderful colour to use when you want to boost your confidence, initiate new projects, promote courage, perseverance and alertness, enhance your sexual desire and energize your vitality.
Using too much red can over stimulate you, causing arguments, restlessness and aggression. Red should be used in moderation, especially if you're prone to anxiety, or get agitated easily.
Orange
Orange is a warm colour, much less fiery than red. It promotes enthusiasm, a sense of well-being, boosts your immunity, soothes digestive issues, encourages and revitalizes you and is an antidepressant. Orange is a creative colour that is a great choice if you want to express yourself without worrying what other people think.
Relationships can benefit from orange, as it helps to stimulate optimism and affection. It can attract positive people to you, as it enables you to make a stronger emotional connection with others. It's definitely a good choice when you want to cheer yourself up, promote happiness, freedom, joy, togetherness and optimum vitality.
Orange should be used in moderation, as too much of it can create an emotional dependence on others, and a dislike of being alone. It can increase laziness, nervousness and restlessness, especially on people who already have these character traits.
Yellow
Yellow is a bright and cheerful colour that stimulates your mind, aids concentration, increases intellectual ability, heals skin problems, detoxifies and encourages happiness and well-being. Yellow is beneficial when you want to be inspired, get creative ideas, solve problems, think clearly and wake you up when you're feeling sluggish.
Yellow is a great social colour. It stimulates us mentally and brings us out of ourselves, by helping us improve our conversation skills and find more interesting things to say. It's a great colour to wear when attending social events.
